Jack Sheldon

Go see jazz trumpeter Jack Sheldon @ Jax Bar and Grill. He plays every Thursday night with a crack band whose members are rotated on regular basis (or so says the locals). It’s free and you can get a nice meal. (Cheers for more dinner theater!)

His resume is impressive, having collaborated with such folks as Dizzy Gillespie, Dexter Gordon, Curtis Counce, Shelly Manne, Art Pepper, Frank Sinatra, Benny Goodman, Stan Kenton, Mel Torme, Tony Bennett, Lena Horne, Peggy Lee, Sammy Davis Jr., Rosemary Clooney, Diane Schuur, and other greats. He also had an 18-year gig as featured soloist, resident comedian and musical director on The Merv Griffin Show.

Also, he can sing. He sang the vocals for Schoolhouse Rock in such episodes as Conjunction Junction and How a Bill Becomes Law.

He plays trumpet, the band swings and he tells dirty jokes. What else do you need?
